Another short thriller from Felipe Adan Lerma but again one that packs a lot more into it than the relatively short word count would suggest. In his writing, the author strips away every superfluous word of needless padding, once again putting me in mind of Hemmingway. What's left is a short hard-hitting thriller that moves along at a cracking and entertaining pace. For a short story there are more than the usual two or the three characters, in this case there being six young cousins as well as p [...]

It's hard to write a short story about crime.(I know, I've tried. In one instance, what started out as a short story about a murder wound up being 300 pages long)The reason it's hard is simple: It usually takes an author more than a few well-chosen words to build characters, put them into a precarious situation, bring in the cops and, ultimately, solve the crime to the satisfaction of the reader. That said, I think Felipe Adan Lerma has figured out how to write short crime fiction and I'm pretty [...]

The story was well structured and had the ability to make me feel like I was in the setting with the characters. It had me wanting to listen to music, buy a pair of cowboy boots which I never owned because to me they look uncomfortable but the story had me feeling they would break in quick, it was the style of the words that changed my mind. In one scene the words gave me a great craving to have a taco. To me that's impressive Now I will say I did reach out to the author and he was generous enou [...]

I am in the mood for Tacos I don't normally go for this type of genre but was very surprised, the book itself is well written along with a good flowing structure. I loved the main character Sam, who arrives in Texas for a conference and discovers the party atmosphere. I thought the rest of the characters held well in their own right Buzz, Cherise etc. Even near the end the story had a great build up, can't give too much away, the end result left a smile on my face here in the rainy UK.Thank you [...]

My first story, a short, that I could say was supposed to be a mystery from the beginning. A light crime mystery, but still, gotta start somewhere. ;-) But quite honestly, one of my favorites. As I finish other writing commitments I currently have in the works, I plan to try my hand at more along this style. Plus, the characters involved, especially the six children, ages ten to eighteen, appear in almost all my other fiction available.
