    Brannigan made it obvious that this read would have a strong female lead - a woman of strength - as the series title is eponymous of. Then there is that element of time travel. This allowed the book to stand out from many vampire romance books swooning the hearts of most woman today. It was refreshing.     I really enjoyed this book. It had everything I like in a story – romance, a hint of the supernatural (time travel), a strong heroine, a dashing hero, a mystery assassin, poofy dresses, etc. The protagonist, Isabeau, was a perfect mix between confident, independent woman, and swooning damsel in distress.     I really enjoyed this book. It was your typical time travel romance. I did enjoy the story and characters but the timeline in the story got very very confusing. I was having a hard time following everything that was happening. Now why that can be a good thing there was a little too much. Other than some confusion the book was very enjoyable.

    From the very beginning of this book the time travel aspect became clear. It was such a dramatic start of a great story. Isabeau came to Hawk's Den in 2012 to help take photographs and ended up in 1894. There she meets Hawk Morgan the owner of Hawk's Den in Virginia. She is confused yet she knows that she is displaced.
