Oh y'allere are so many things I love about this book (and the other books in the series) that its difficult to express it, but here we go1. The book is a love story in the truest since of the word. You experience the introduction, the build up, the emotions, the struggles, and then you are rewarded with love. Its so real and beautiful. I wish more books were written like this instead of writing about characters who use sex as an ice breaker. 2. The hero of the story is a wounded warrior. End of [...]

3.75 stars!Really enjoyed this. Hero has been celibate for years so that's always a plus, lol. It also has one of the best literary dogs I've ever come across. Zeus was awesome!

Love this series & this book does not disappoint. Mitch & Kenzie are both broken but together they heal each other & can think about the future. And Zeus was just like another character & loveable. I connected with this series & each book just draws you in!

**I received a copy of this book, from the author, in exchange for a honest review.**When I decided to read Chasing Daylight, I went at it blind. The description gives very little away and I haven't read any other books in this series. So I read this book without any preconceived notions. At first I had my doubts with this book. It wasn't really grabbing me from the beginning. I knew I needed to give it a chance. I'm glad I did because it was a very good book. The story is about McKenzie, Mitch a [...]

I have been in love with the Carolina Days Series by Carey Heywood since reading book one, The Other Side of Someday. While book one hooked me, book two, Yesterday's Half Truths, brought out a whole new range of emotion for me. Ms Heywood goes to great lengths to make sure her characters and stories are realistic and believable. These are just a few of the reasons I was so anxious to read Chasing Daylight. Since 'meeting' Mitch in YHT, I have been anxious to learn his story, and this book did no [...]

I received this book as an ARC, in exchange for an honest review.I give this book 5 stars. Although the book is well worth waiting for, I am SO glad I didn't have to, because OMG, it was AMAZING!!!It doesn't surprise me that this book drew me in and stole my heart, I think everything I have read from Carey Heywood, pretty much felt the same way.Chasing Daylight was more than I expected it to be. I loved all the characters; except for one. And you will see who she is towards the end of the book.M [...]

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book from the amazingly talented Carey Heywood. So I will try my best to articulate what this book means to and that's HOPE. Hope of a better future for these two beautifully broken souls. McKenzie Williams is a simple down to earth girl that is just trying to get her feet back on the ground. After a relationship troubled past she decides to start fresh with her best friend Rachel and her husband Alec. Together they make a close tight knit family but [...]

There were parts of this book that I loved and parts that were just too much. I enjoyed the way Mckenzie and Mitch met and the way their relationship progressed. Mitch was all in from the start and I love that. Zeus the dog was a terrific addition to the book- loved him. I also liked Mckenzie's friends Rachel and Alec. The bad parts were the multiple attacks and a kidnapping- over the top drama for the sake of drama. The OW that took part in kidnapping Mckenzie had known Mitch for 5 years and ne [...]

Two broken souls. Two battered hearts. One last chance at love!!! Mitch and McKenzie are world weary. Each have experienced some of the worst life has to offer and lived to tell the tale. They have sworn off people. They have passed on their chance for more. Until they find each other."I want her peace to sink into me and form roots. I want it to grow inside me until the anxiety that plagues me has no room left and is purged."Mitch and McKenzie are extraordinary examples of what wonderful things [...]

I just love Author Carey Heywood, all her books pull me in and don't let go. I get lost in the magic of true love. Love that's not always easy. Love that can be hard to Hold on to. Love that could be my love. Her stories are believable and magical. Chasing daylight talks about some pretty hard topics and like most of Carey's book you would not make it through with out a few tears.Mitch is a man, who has been through hell, he is a proud man but he has a few weakness that have consumed his day to [...]

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and I'm so glad because it was amazing! Just like all of Carey Heywood's novels, the characters in this book draw you in from the start. Mitch lives a solitary life, pushing people away. McKenzie has been hurt time and time again and decides to swear off men altogether. When their lives crash together, they are both forced to face their fears. I have to say that I feel in love with each and every character in this book, even Zeus the dog! They ar [...]

I love Carey Heywood's stories. This one does not disappoint. It is the third in her Carolina Days series. The characters Mitch and Kenzie are both in a place, mentally, where they prefer to be alone. Until they meets and the sparks fly. The story is told in both character's POV, which I really enjoy in a book. Ms. Heywood's does a very nice job accomplishing the dual POV. My favorite character is Zeus. He is the reason our hero meets our heroine. If you love a good story with loss, love, hearta [...]

I just love this series, and this installment keeps the tradition going! Full review tomorrow!

I absolutely LOVED this book. First things first, if you must know any one thing about me, you must know that I absolutely, completely, incomprehensively am scared of dogs. There's no real rhyme or reason to it, but if I see a dog coming I either casually sprint to the other side of the road, or pause in panic, whichever really. Now, with all that said, I absolutely LOVED Zeus. His dedication to Mitch is amazing. The way he intuitively knows when Mitch needs him around is perfection. Never have [...]

Chasing Daylight is the third book in Carey Heywood’s Carolina Days series and can be read as a stand alone book.Mitch is a disabled veteran suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). His PTSD is so bad, he has a therapy dog named Zeus who helps him get through the worst of it. Mitch meets McKenzie when Zeus needs emergency veterinarian care. Mitch feels a pull to McKenzie - the first person he’s felt any kind of connection with since his injury. McKenzie is facing her own demons [...]

And the stories just keep getting better. I am loving this series. I was excited for Mitch because I knew he was ex-military with a prosthetic. We met him in Yesterday’s Half Truths at the gym as he is a client of Luke’s. He’s a loner. Does the bare minimum to keep his family off his back so they won’t stage an intervention. Just him and Zeus keeping each other company. Not bothering anyone that is until someone bothers them.It has to be said that I’ve never read an animal character in [...]

Chasing Daylight is the third book in the Carolina Days contemporary romance series. It is a very well written novel, but the ARC I was sent had a few spelling errors. Since it was an ARC these errors are not reflected in my rating. This is a love story between two people with traumatic pasts that are understandably reluctant to get involved in relationships. He is a man haunted by his military experiences and she is running away from a bad relationship. This is the story of how they overcome the [...]

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Chasing Daylight in exchange for an honest review. Chasing Daylight is a super fun, sexy, easy read. Even though this is book 3 in the Carolina Days series, it can definitely be read as a stand alone. This book compared to Ms. Heywoods other works of art is a little different. As with all of her books, they tend to be on the more realistic side of life. Her books are ones that people can relate to which is so refreshing these days. However, with Chasing Da [...]

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning. My Thoughts:When I heard there was going to be a third book in the Carolina Days series, I was so excited. I adored books one and two (The Other Side of Someday and Yesterday's Half Truths), so I couldn't wait to read book three. McKenzie and Mitch are sort of amazing together. Their relationship progresses in the best way, sweetly and realistically. They're not expecting this, but they embrace it for what it is, despite their own [...]

I had the amazing privilege to read Chasing Daylight by Carey Heywood very early and I really liked it! Mitch and McKenzie are each recovering from tragic pasts. Fate brings them together, as they were destined to be.“It would be better for both of us if I walked out her door and never bothered her again. The problem is I’m defenseless against her asking me to stay.”The connection between them is intense. They are both stubborn, closed off to a certain point, and strong willed. McKenzie tr [...]

I haven't read many of Carey's books since I read Her and didn't know what to expect with this book. I loved it! Mitch and Kenzie are both broken but still find love with each other. Mitch is broken because of his time in the service while Kenzie is broken because of a past relationship. They're both not looking for love but end of finding it with each other anyway. It's hRd to write this review without spoiling the story and it's an amazing story that deserves to be read. Mitch is an injured ve [...]

    * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * I've been a fan of Carey Heywood's writing since I discovered Him/Her/Them and recently devoured (and loved) the first two books in the Carolina Days series. I was excited that I'd get to know Mitch, an injured vet introduced to us in Yesterday's Half Truths, better. The thing I love most about Heywood's writing is her conversational tone- I really feel like a friend is telling me a story as I am reading. And although I have loved her prior wor [...]

I've been totally in love with this series and Chasing Daylight did not disappoint. For me this book surpassed the meaning of true love. We meet Mitch and McKenzie, two broken souls who both have traumatic past's. Both have given up on the idea of love. That is until their paths collide. Carey took this book to a whole new level in my opinion. Not only are sensitive subjects touched on, she added mystery, suspense and drama. So many times I was on the edge of my seat and screaming "no" at my kin [...]

Just when I thought I couldn't love an author's books more Carey Heywood goes and writes this one!Chasing Daylight is the story of Mitch and McKenzie. We first get a small glimpse of Mitch in Yesterday's Half Truths as one of Luke's clients. After Mitch loses is leg he shuts himself off from the world as much as possible with only his dog Zeus as any kind of emotional connection. That is until McKenzie is suddenly brought into his life. Dealing with a crazy past of her own and swearing off all me [...]

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.Confession I haven't read the first two books in the Carolina Days series. (I one clicked them and have started on book one) Even with not reading them I wasn't confused and was able to follow this wonderful story of hope and finding love. Mitch is just going through the motions of living when he meets McKenzie. McKenzie wasn't looking for love when she meets Mitch. I was pulled in right from the beginning and fell in love with Mitch, McKenz [...]

Another amazing book by Carey!I love Mitch and Kenzie. This book is Carey's first attempt at throwing a little suspense into it, and she did a fantastic job. The plot is wonderful, and the characters are so lovable, you want to be friends with both of them. The issues that each one face are so real, and sadly there will be women and men who can relate to Mitch and Kenzie, and what they struggle with. That is what sets Carey's books apart. She's able to bring a sense of reality to a work of ficti [...]

I LOVED this book. The characters were well developed and the story had it all; sadness, pain, romance, loving :) , courage, badass dog, and drama. I really appreciated how the author gave a little background in her research for the book. I feel it helped her nail Mitch's POV and made his character that much better. My attention issues got in the way a couple of times with some of the detail "setting the scene" but I struggled putting it down because I needed to read just 1 more chapter The stor [...]

All it takes is for the right person to come along and change your life forever. At first I feel bad for Mitch, even though he prefers the life of solitude he's not really living. With the exception of his dog Zeus he has no other relationships. His connection to McKenzie is immediate even if she tries to avoid it."It can't be good that she dissed me for my dog." I loved this part and I absolutely loved Rachel and her meddeling! This book was HOT, suspenseful, and full of feeling. This wasn't my [...]

*Gifted for an honest review*I haven't read the other books in this series but was told it could be read as a stand alone. I never felt while reading it that I needed to read the other books. I really enjoyed Mitch and McKenzie's story. I thought it had just the right amount of "drama" thrown in. I really liked Alec and Rachel too.Although the story was a bit predictable with the Tyler story line, it was still a sweet, romantic read.4 stars
