As the editor of this book, I am naturally biased. On the other hand, NO-ONE has read it more thoroughly, or will read it more often, so I feel slightly vindicated in posting a short review! The idea was to create something that readers could dip into during the rare quiet moments during the chaos of the December Holidays, or simply read late into the night. This is a project that selected the best 14 contributions from all over the world, which were then put together into a beautiful book by a va [...]

THIS REVIEW NOW CONTAINS MY FULL REVIEW OF THE BOOK.While I've not yet read Happy Holidays, I HAVE seen tiny bits and pieces of it; best compared to taking "just a peek" at fantastic holiday gifts that look amazing but are just not quite ready to be enjoyed. Not YET. But it DOES look wonderful. Note to self; keep the really good hot chocolate on hold until this treasure is ready to be unwrapped.Oh and I shall report back, with a full Review, once I've read the entire book!Well. I've read the en [...]

Andrew Christie, in the Foreword to this frequently delightful, occasionally sentimental, and mostly warm and entertaining collection of short stories, strikes the right note from the outset. In an appropriately amusing light-hearted manner he describes how the book came into being. He and his co-producers of the collection "wanted an international initiative" and therefore cast their net wide. Mr. Christie heads up a very large Facebook Group called "Books and Everything", comprising some four [...]

This book was put together by 14 writers from a Facebook group, and a publisher, to raise funds for the World Literacy Foundation. My main concern with anthologies is that all the writers are obviously different and so it is difficult to ‘get into’. But the Happy Holidays Anthology was a pleasant read and I liked almost all the stories. I particularly enjoyed reading stories that showed how different countries spend the holiday period.

True Christmas spirit. Love it when so many authors can come together to produce such a fantastic anthology. Well worth a read! Great Christmas present.

The Happy Holidays Anthology is a collection of short stories that I thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe some stories were better than others, but all of them had soul. And, as corny as it sounds, the book has set the mood for the holidays a time for family and friends, a time for fun and games.

I'm not generally a reader of short stories. Give me a novel I can sink my teeth into and get lost in for days. That being said, this novel is in aid of such a worthy cause and it is the silly season after all so I thought why not? Let's give it a shot. So very pleased I did! Truly a little bit of everything in this collection. It made me laugh and it tugged on the heart strings more than a few times but it's a great holiday read from start to finish

This is a fantastic anthology! I was honoured to be one of the writers involved in it, and I'm dwarfed by the company I'm in! Great stories! Some awesome holiday creativity!!!

Such heartwarming stories from around the world. They meandered between the mystical and whimsical to more human ones and those that really spoke to my heart. The Christmas spirit is indeed in all of us across the galaxies😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.Reminded me so much of many Christmases, (is there such a word 🙈), spent in Soweto, first in Meadowlands then Protea Glen. Then those spent at my house with my own BIG family. To what has become a ritual and culture now, we use the rotation s [...]

I am very impressed with the end result of this writing project. With its cheery bright yellow cover, the book looks lovely and paging through it I can’t help but feel ‘happy’. Whilst readers may not be completely awe-stricken by the literary genius of each and every one of the stories, the standard is high and there certainly are some absolute gems in there that should not be missed out on. The editor did a great job in putting together a selection of stories that will appeal to a variety [...]

This beautifully conceived and written anthology, edited by Andrew Christie under the auspices of Kwarts Publishers, represents authors from 20 countries throughout the globe. Nonetheless, some of the most fascinating stories are out of Christie's own South Africa, focusing a lens on the daily life of a country that is somewhat unfamiliar to many of us. Many of the stories are served up with generous helpings of Urdu, Afrikaans, Sesotho, and urban slang. Christie points out in his wry preface th [...]

What a diverse and delightful collection of short stories around the theme of holidays. If the brief is simply, ‘write anything that you would be happy for your grandma to read,’ one is bound to get a selection of feel-good narratives that will capture one’s imagination. I have the unenviable task of reviewing the book while also being a contributor. It does let me off the hook of choosing my favourite story though. Suffice to say, I thoroughly enjoyed every story and I’m sure you will t [...]

I was looking forward to reading Happy Holidays, not just because I was a contributing author, and not just because it is in aid of such a worthy cause, but because the anthology included works by some exciting authors. The content doesn't disappoint. I was particularly looking forward to reading Scott Burtness, whose Monsters in the Midwest series I had recently devoured with much interest (and I highly recommend checking out the series) and Sian B Claven, whose debut Novel Ensnared was a truly [...]

I loved paging through the Happy Holidays Anthology, not simply because I am a contributor, but more because it is a beautiful work of love and selflessness by fourteen different authors from around the world, in favour of the World Literacy Foundation, and is as rich as they come! The educational capacity and fun in the stories are truly a welcome cherry on top. The variety in the stories is amazing. Even so, each one is as heart-warming, and as eye-opening as the next. I feel as though I have [...]
